Back in Singa on Day 15

I'm back! Woke up this morning thinkin i was still in Tibet. What a horrible feeling. Wanted to just close my eyes, maybe it might bring me back to Tibet,. Well, nice try, i'm was still in Singapore. :S Gave up and woke up.

Every trip evokes emotions and new thoughts about life, about people. To list a few top thoughts and emotions:
1) Was very touched seeing a boy fussin over his new pair of shoes. His happiness was written all over his face as he cleaned his feet (with his dirty hands) and got ready to wear his new pair of white shoes. Singapore kids are so used to getting new shoes, new clothes that they are seldom happy when we recieve new shoes. i guess it reminds me that 知足常乐。
2) I spoke so much chinese that i can actually speak in full sentences. i guess sometimes, immersing oneself into an environment really does expedite growth. Makes me want to keep practising my language skill.
3) Ialso am very fortunate to be born in Singapore and am effectively bilingual. In China, we recieved many comments that we speak fluent chinese, and yet at the same time, when we meet westerners, we can communicate effectively as well. Language is indeed a bridge to breaking barriers and making new friends.
4) China will indeed grow exponentially in the next few years. Along the journey, saw many new roads were being built, the people are also getting more affluent with tourism. However, sadly, i doubt Tibet will be the same in the next 10 yrs. (sidenote: how glad i am that i get to go on this trip). i guess 事事无绝对。The people i met along the way were really quite poor and tourism, though it brings about a dilution in culture, it brings about freedom as well. Spoke to 3 young Tibetan girls who commented how lucky we were to be able to travel far and wide while they are always in a 无底洞. Trapped. Tourism brings them money, and education and a chance to step out of their current situation. Of course, i must add that i was also disturbed by some things that tourism has done to the locals.
5) "城市没意思" I learnt this from 陈师傅, our amazing driver for the trip. Superb driving skills i must say. After the trip, went back to 成都while waiting for our flight. The feeling i got on Day 1 and Day 14 i must say was totally different, and his phrase popped into my head. 西藏的空气新鲜,风景迷人。Not saying that 成都 is horrible, but juz immersing into nature makes you realise that phrase. haha.. madness ya.
6) Life and Death. Heard from 学强and his wife (2 lovely pple we met at 新都桥) the process of 天葬。There will come a day that we all die. Although the process sounds gruesome, i guess, itz the most environmental way of perishing. The whole journey was not exactly safe either, so, i did also feel that life is really short. Hope i've done enough for the pple around me and that happiness is around :)

After sorting out my photos, (Will try loading after learning how to load up as a whole from Ying) i went for a NDP dinner. Was feeling some form of SNMS (Singapore No Moutain Sickness :p). Falling ill! Throat has been aching, slight cough, fever is coming, funny that i din experience this in Tibet except for the aching head due to (AMS - Altitude Mountain Sickness), maybe i'm really not done with Tibet :p Anyhow, i had fun at the dinner. i just simply love the songs "We are Singapore", "Count on Me Singapore". Didn't get to celebrate NDP as i normally do this yr as i was in Tibet. So, this was a really nice way of celebrating and a nice way to remind me that i still love Singapore. For the roots i have grown for this place since i'm a baby and for giving what i have today.
