New place called home

After we embarked on our nest project in June 09, life has been hectic.

2 months of search landed us in a bishan home. After 4 months of waiting, we finally got our keys. During these 4 months, we started off with burying ourselves in renovation magazines (whatever we can find), then looking for our ID. then decided to just look for a contractor.

Work started in Jan 10 and since then, we've been buying furnitures, lights. Though it sounds simple , it was really tuff finding things we like. That certainly took time. Liasing with the contractor was not an easy task too. having to speak his lingo and to use our layman knowledge to convey ideas. And he, being a contractor, of course has no design idea in mind. Just functional ideas. The process got a little crazy frankly as we had to sometimes repeat ourselves several times just to get for eg get carpentry work done.

Accomplishment? Throughout this 2 months, we have learnt how to draw 2D drawings. All our wardrobes, tv features, kitchen cabinets were all painstakingly drawn by us and then redrawn by the carpenter technically. i dare say, every single drawer was thought through carefully and had functional and aesthetic thoughts behind it. Each electricity point was thought of and drilled in accordingly. Aircon piping also was thought out by us and hidden by pipings.

What is the house like? Be welcomed by a modern resort living room, a cosy kitchen, a modern contemporary bedroom. Now, at this point of time, i'm sitting for the 1st time at our dining area :) With the new kitchen cabinets behind me :) using my wireless broadband the 1st time :) looking at my spinning black fan, which i love. so many things i love about this place, every single lamp and bulb chosen by us. I'm excited to start a new life with my other half who has made this nest possible.

For now, i'm feeling a sense of joy, a sense of accomplishment and relishing my little moments during our busy moments between me and pitt where we looked at each other and smiled cause we know we are proud of each other and our new nest where we call home :)
