St James Power Station. Party party!
I'm probably s.l.o.w. again. :p Actually i went st james a few weeks back but did not go around the place. Yesterday, we checked out the 9 outlets with much interest.
I like the concept. One cover charge to all outlets. Percieved value worth. When you are bored, can just hop over to the next outlet. Each room has it's own character. There's r&b @ boiler room, canto @ dragonfly, world music @ movida, house & trance @ powerhouse, jazz @ bellini room. Or you can just chill outside and watch soccer. Alternatively, you can feel abit more chic and chill off by overlooking the gallery bar and see what the rest of the world are doing. I'm a person who loves variety and the freedom of choice. So, the concept indeed appeals to me.
The best is that the quality of the performers was really there. I was impressed with the jazz singer, the "mini concerts" @ dragonfly, the performers @ movida. (Ok, obviously i checked out every room :p, almost every room, i think i missed the peppermint park. Or maybe i walked by but was not aware)
I know that the place also has differing views. i personally also find the crowd @ dragonfly super wierd. Luckily i had protection :p Wat i found interestin about the st james is the crowd it attracted. It was really an international crowd with age grps up till 40? Movida was the westerners crowd, dragonfly obviously the chinese crowd, boiler's room the english crowd. Anyhow, i give credit to mapletree and the creators for the concept. Kudos. Hope it lasts.
