The Leap Years

i didn't quite think i would watch this. However, 10,000 BC ran out of tickets, and since we decided to watch a show, we settled for The Leap Years.

I must say they did have quite a budget in the publicity bit, pre launch, launch and post launch. Though the critics were not as forgiving. They selected quite a few good lookers for the casting and even had Joan Chen in! Talk about budget ya.The downsides first: the 2 main casts lacked enough chemistry. I've seen casts with great chemistry. And to be frank, i didn't read the book. So, may not know how romantic the actual story was.

My take on it. I like it. Romantic. Witty. And makes Singapore quite rustic and characteristic. Other things i enjoyed. Corrine May. Her voice is just so good. Cinematography was also quite cool. Sitting on the roof top and watching the CBD. i liked that. Was also thinking that it's quite cool that Singapore has productions that are Hokkien (881 which appeals to Taiwanese) and English and Cantonese (appeals to HongKong and even watchable by the english speaking group).

Anyhow, all in all, it was romantic enough for me. I guess i liked best the philosophy on love. That one should never just "settle" for someone. Itz sad to "settle down" in that way. Watz the point of marriage if itz wif one not with true love? Hence, those with true love, count ur blessings :) The debates in the show were also things i alwiz found myself debating when i was single. Anyhow, i'm glad my conclusion was that i will never be wif someone jus for the sake of being with someone. Hence, no matter how tough it may be, how frustrating it can be, hang in there and be very happy chancing upon that special someone when u do :)

Some quotes:

"It's not in the stars to hold our destiny, but ourselves" - i believe in the stars but i think this quote reminds me that we should always look at ourselves in the mirror to tell ourselves we can do more.
"A person often meets his destiny on the route he took to avoid it" - How true, i think that's what makes life beautiful
Worth a watch. Will give it a 8/10 for a local production. Go go singapore!

P/S: The "Ok" is very symbolic in this show. Love these 2 simple letters from this show.
